Janine Liebert has been with LA Law Library since 2007, starting as a reference librarian. In her current position as Managing Librarian, Public Interest Programs, Janine is responsible for the design, implementation and expansion of LA Law Library’s many access to justice programs, including Lawyers in the Library clinics, workshops for self-represented litigants, continuing education trainings for the library’s numerous legal aid partners, and Law Week and Pro Bono Week educational classes, panel discussions on important access to justice issues, events and clinics. Janine regularly designs professional development panels for both state and nationwide conferences and is a frequent speaker to various groups on access to justice issues. Janine is the 2014 recipient of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Emerging Leader Award, which is a national level award given to just one law librarian in the country. She is proud to claim the distinction of being the first public law librarian to receive this prestigious award. Janine holds an undergraduate degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts, a master’s degree from St. John’s College in New Mexico and Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from UCLA.
